However, the PackersвЂ™ defense tightened up after two rushing first downs and forced a punt. In the end, it led to a field goal as time expired in the second quarter. They gave up a good chunk of yards on a draw, another big playвЂ“this time through the airвЂ“over the middle and Darnell Savage tacked on 15 extra yards when he led with his helmet on the tackle. Unfortunately, Green BayвЂ™s defense couldnвЂ™t cap the half on a high note. This time, they finished the job as Rodgers found Davante Adams in the end zone on a vintage RodgersвЂ™ play. Milking the clock as they did throughout the first half, Green Bay slowly moved the ball on this VikingsвЂ™ defense once again.

ZaвЂ™Darius Smith finished the series with a sack on third down, forcing a quick three-and-out. Rashan Gary stopped Kirk Cousins just past the line of scrimmage on first down, while Kenny Clark brought Cook down on the next play. Green BayвЂ™s defense responded well and got the ball back to their offense in a hurry.

Of note, tight end/fullback Josiah Deguara hauled in his first career reception. They were able to nickel and dime their way to the red zone for the third straight trip, and, per normal, stalled out which led to the second Crosby field goal of the day.

Until they got inside the red zone at least. On the PackersвЂ™ second drive of the game, they once again marched down the field with little resistance. Green BayвЂ™s rush defense was an issue last year, and it didnвЂ™t look much better on this first series, as Dalvin Cook had some huge holes to run through. Once they got closer to the endzone, their running attack did the rest of the damage. That lead didnвЂ™t last longs, as the Vikings marched quickly down the field thanks to some big plays through the air. #Packers get a field goal on the opening drive of 2020.
